No matter where in the world you are, from Miami to New York, Los Angeles or even in Paris, you may have noticed a trend of people wanting to look younger. Facelifts are one of the best ways to achieve this goal, and they are also some of the most popular ways to look younger.

Of course, there are plenty of other options to try before getting your face operated on. There are creams and other external treatments that can really make a difference in the way that your skin looks and feels. Laser resurfacing can also help your skin to have a youthful glow and shine.

Some people aren't happy with the results of these simpler treatments, however, and then search out the next step in cosmetic help with aging. Injectable treatments such as Botox treatments around the brow area and Restylane treatments around the mouth lines can stave off some of aging's effects.

Sometimes, however, other treatments don't work and you just have to go for the big guns. In these cases, the surgical step known as a facelift may be your only option. For many years, patients had just one choice in facelifts - the full facelift, a lengthy procedure with a lengthy cut.

While this cut, usually made along the hairline to minimize scarring and noticeability, was difficult to endure, surgeons have now discovered different ways to make the cutting needed smaller and less invasive. These cuts are still required to get at the tissues underneath so skin can be pulled taut.

Full facelifts are no longer the only options for people wanting to get a facelift - if you do not have wrinkles or issues covering your entire face, you may want to try the mini facelift. The mini facelift can be used when a patient has wrinkles on just half of their face, the lower half, and/or saggy jowls.

Since this surgery is far less extensive, there is less risk - and less recovery time with a mini facelift. The doctor may even be able to perform the surgery without the use of general anesthesia, instead using local anesthesia to numb the area he or she is working on. This will shorten recovery time.

Smaller cuts can be made to minimize scarring - the incisions will probably only be around the ear, and the underlying tissues and skin will be pulled through these little areas in order to be smoothed and kept taut. In this way, jowls will be banished and a youthful appearance will be restored.

Mini facelifts are not the right procedure for everyone. You must need the area of the face rejuvenated that this procedure covers - and you must realize the risk involved in any surgery. If you make sure to research properly, you too can have a great experience with your mini facelift.
