Puffy eyes caused by aging, drinking, smoking, stress or anything else? This is part 2 of our article on powerful home remedies that actually work.
Today we start with the common potato. Always underrated, this starchy gravy-mate has a large spectrum of healing and anti-aging qualities, including pampering your puffy eyes.
In many parts of Europe the potato is tried and true as a way to soothe headaches, painful joints and other inflammatory conditions. The starch in the potato also acts as an anti-inflammatory agent to ease your puffy eyes.
Directions: Peel a potato (medium size), wash it and dry off. Grate the potato to a fine pulp. Put the pulp in a clean cloth/thin towel and fold it to make a poultice. Close your eyes, and put the poultice on them for 15 minutes. Enjoy those de-puffed eyes.
Cold water. My personal experience with this one is incredible. Before going to work, when you just have a few minutes to get ready, you don't have time to pamper yourself with potatoes and cucumber slices, but don't despair. Cold water works in less than 10 seconds!
Directions: Turn on the faucet and wait for the water to get cold. Rinse your face with several good splashes of cold water. The coolness of the water will constrict blood vessels and reduce swelling in under ten seconds. Plus, you'll be very awake by now!
Salt. Yes salt. Pepperoni pizza, chips and other salty foods often cause puffy eyes. However, salt by itself is wonderful for reducing them!
Directions: Put 1/2 teaspoon salt into 1 quart of warm water. Dip cotton balls or facial pads into the solution, then lie down and apply the pads to your eyelids. Leave on for 10-15 minutes. When finished, you'll be amazed at your younger looking de-puffed eyes.
