It has been the advent of safer fake tanning methods that has allowed people to enjoy that tanned look all year round. It has become a recognized fact that too much sun is dangerous for our skin and causes many problems which is why the new artificial methods have proved so popular. One of the choices people are now making is to go to a salon that offers spray tanning for an almost instant, safe effect. Other oils and creams that can produce a fake tan have been available for a long time but the effect they provide is not always consistent.

In an effort to win even more followers, spray tanning manufacturers have developed systems where you can apply the tan at home. Whilst there are different ways to provide an alternative tan, the way to achieve it and make it longer lasting are the same. Cleaning the dead skin off your body is the most important step using a proprietary exfoliation scrub which can be bought from any drugstore. This can stop the situation where dead skin cells gradually drop off leaving paler patches of skin which immediately tells people you have a fake tan.

Once this process is complete, it is advisable to prepare your skin further by applying a moisturizing cream (or lotion) to it which will make the agent easier to apply. Always, always, always wear disposable surgical gloves when applying a self tanning cream etc. unless you want people to see the orange palms which you will most certainly have when you have finished. To avoid any other application mistakes that could give away the fact that the tan is not real, make sure those fingers, feet, elbows and knees are only given the lightest of coats as they have a habit of coming out darker. Even spray tanning can cause the odd problem if there is an excess and it starts to run so take a towel you no longer want with you to wipe it off.

To avoid any smears, marks or cracking, you will need to relax and remain still, while the tanning agent dries. The problem you will have afterwards during this drying time is what to wear because if you wear something expensive that you like, it will probably become stained and won't come off.

If possible always choose clothing that is darker and preferably something that is old and won't matter if a stain is left on it. With a little care there is no reason why you cannot have a golden brown skin color throughout the year whilst keeping the method you use a secret, if you just take note of the information provided here.
