@cameracapoeira I also highly doubt that the slaves considered themselves “Brazilian” at the time of the invention of this sport/art. No one is arguing that capoeira is highly identified with brazilian culture but for you to dismiss that it was never born in Africa is a bit high handed. The sport could simply have been transported. We dont know for sure. Angolans appear to practice Capoeira. Idk but ur statement is a little irritating considering the racial attitudes then and now in Brazil.
@Alessandrobrs There is a video on youtube called Angola: birthplace of capoeira that suggests otherwise. Despite the geological origin of its creation or the beginning of its practice, Capoeira has its origin in African culture but was practiced in Brazil by black slaves. That phrase “purely Brazilian”? so what if the Portuguese took blacks to Portugal and they still invented capoeira? The country harboring the slaves is irrelevant. They would have developed this beautiful art anywhere.
@cameracapoeira
I take back wat I said. I mis read

Que merda é essa em 1.10? Jiu-Jitsu? E essa mão aberta aí? Acho que pecou na técnica, embora a produção do vídeo seja respeitável.
