There are several different types of "pick-up lines" at your disposal, and this article is the first of a series to explain the different types and which ones you should use. Believe it or not, your line doesn't have to be very witty, or even unique. If you're sociable, and make it clear you're hear for the fun just like the women are, then the Social Opener may be all you need. This method was popularized especially by Mehow in 2006.

Here are some examples of what the social opener can be:

"Hey guys,"

"You guys look fun, I had to say hi"

"You guys look fun, are you friendly?"

"You guys have a cool energy, I just wanted to see what you were like."

"Hey, how's it going?"

While all these openers are short, some are very straightforward, and some may be "out there," when commenting on a girl's energy. No matter which one you use, you must come in looking happy and content with your night already. You are facing the group, but not bending forward, even if they have trouble hearing you or vice versa. You're just having a good time and helping others do the same.

One thing different we're doing here is using the word "guys" instead of "girls" to describe them. When you're socializing, you want to convey that you talk to everyone, guys and girls, so you use a more unisex term. If you said "Hey girls," it would sound more like you were on the prowl, which is fine, but it doesn't work with the social opener. Buy using "guys," the women will understand they have to work a bit harder to get you.

Whether the woman is alone, in a group of girls, or in a group of guys, the social opener will do well in opening things up. It's friendly, but not overtly showing romantic or sexual interest.

I can hear your next question: "What do I say after that?" Well, there are a number of options. You could have a few stories in the can to bust out, or just improvise. The best choice is to get good with improvising and coming up with new things to say naturally. This takes time, and you'll have a number of awkward conversations first. That's ok. Just keep going through new experiences of talking to people as often as possible.

Once you get good at it, the social opener becomes the most consistent way to open and start new conversations. If people do not want to talk to you when you use an opener like this, usually there's something really off with your body language, clothing style, or voice tone. Keep working on it and ask a friend for help. Try to open at least four groups a night using the social opener and you should find yourself becoming extremely comfortable with talking to women you just met.
