Anniversaries mark another year of being with your loved one and are truly special events. Some people celebrate each month that they are together, but most anniversaries are associated with the passing of the years in a marriage.

An anniversary gives you a very good opportunity to plan a romantic getaway for you and your significant other. It might be a special day out or a romantic weekend away, depending on your budget and how much time away you are able to take. You might even opt for a long relaxing week in the sun if that is possible for both of you.

Leaving behind the day to day tedium of daily life is often incentive enough. Marriage involves two people trying to create a happy home and needs to be worked on all the time. If you have kids, you have more housework and laundry and you have to think about such things as homework and school activities as well. Sometimes a romantic vacation might seem like an impossibility because you have so much to do in the home!

An anniversary getaway should be a joyful, romantic time. A trip is a great gift to receive and a nice treat for you and your spouse. If you had to cut costs on your honeymoon because of financial restrictions, what about taking another one now? You can splurge out on the honeymoon you always wanted but didn't have.

You can travel to a city neither of you have visited before or think about a luxury cruise. It can be a great adventure and a change from your daily routine. You will then return home feeling energized and refreshed. You will also be able to tell your friends and family about your romantic anniversary honeymoon when you return.

Another good idea is to renew your wedding vows during your romantic anniversary getaway. You can discuss this with your spouse or even keep it a secret until the last moment! Plenty of inns and resorts offer getaway packages which include the use of their chapel and a wedding cake and other perks. Some might even include a horse-drawn carriage in the wedding vow renewal package. This would definitely make your anniversary getaway even more special.

Perhaps you and your partner's idea of a perfect anniversary is returning to the place where you first met or dated. It is a wonderful way to reminisce about those happy times when your relationship got started.

You should pick a romantic getaway that matches your budget and something you think you would both enjoy. The main thing is spending time together in a relaxed and romantic atmosphere and most hotels can help to make this a reality.
