What is cougar? Well, in terms of dating, it is a mature, sophisticated woman who prefers dating and the company of a younger man. Many of these relationships are for fun and excitement, but there are many that turn into marriages.
With the amount of baby boomers becoming more healthy and looking younger well beyond what their age is telling them. The activity of women dating younger men is starting become more and more of a dating option for women in their 40's,50's and even 60's.
Many of these women married during a time where in was "proper" to date and marry an older, stable man. But as many divorcee baby boomers can contend, that may have not have been the ingredient for a lasting relationship in the first place. Filled with societies sterotyping, women were to be heard, but not seen.
Women during this time years ago, was looked upon to take care the children, cleaning the house and satisfying their husbands. As a result, this may have lead to women feeling less of a person because there might have been a feeling of unfulfilment or a feeling of being less than a person.
Today, those women are fed up and tired of what the old society said. They've rejuvenated today's world with top entertainers, television and movie stars, politicians and people of power. Combine this total gender movement, along with the fact that these women are smarter and taking better themselves now than ever, creates the perfect candidate for becoming a cougar!
These women are strong yet sensitive, caring yet stern and successful yet humble. These attributes in the old days usually depicted the attributes of a man. They have learned from prior relationships how to find their ways in difficult situations which makes them much more independent than their counter-parts 20 to 30 years ago. This is how cougars developed themselves to be more dominant and aggressive in certain aspects of their lives.
All in all, we are in a society today that is more accepting of the Cougar Dating phenomenon. Not only that, but more women are standing up and saying "if men can do it, why can't we". Men aren't the only one's that want to have fun and feel young again!
