Diabetes is a disease which can be developed by anyone whose pancreas start functioning improperly & stops secreting hormones that generates Insulin. So, the diabetes is caused when either the insulin is not produced or its not properly utilized by the cells leading in higher glucose level which is termed as Diabetes.

The three different forms of diabetes are: Type 1, Type 2, and Gestational diabetes. Type 1 diabetes occurs when insulin producing cells in the pancreas are damaged. Pancreatic cells are both protected and destroyed by the body's hormones. Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body fails to produce enough insulin, or fails to utilize it properly. Being overweight is a major contributor to this form of diabetes. Lastly, Gestational diabetes develops in some women during pregnancy.

Excessive urination, excessive thirst and increased fluid intake and blurred vision, these are some of the symptoms of diabetes. While other symptoms may be increased hunger, that is getting hungry often, vomiting, nausea, tiredness, being quite many often, restless behavior and an apathetic attitude in case of children, inability to focus attention, deep breaths with fruity odor.

In every country, this disease is the major health problem with millions of people and its still rising. The number is growing in millions everyday. There are so many cases which are not even diagnosed and reported, you will see most of these cases in urban areas. So , to talk about in percentage 90% people are from urban areas and 10% from rural who remain undiagnosed. Bulkiness, obesity, poor diet, motionless lifestyle are the top causes for type 2 diabetes and that's why this is mostly founded in urban areas.

The reason why rural life is different from urban life is the sedentary lifestyle that is eating more and exercising less in urban areas. Heredity is one of the causes of type 1 diabetes. According to a research, at present, 246 million people around the world are affected by diabetes, which is expected to rise by 380 million by 2025. About 3.8 million people loose their life because of diabetes every year worldwide. Cardiovascular disease is the reason for a greater number of deaths which has been worsened by diabetes-related lipid disorders and hypertension. Some of the chronic diseases are becoming public health challenges like diabetes and hypertension.

There are various preventive measures taught to bring the disease under control, to lower down the number of deaths caused due to diabetes. A healthy diet and regular physical exercise are the only requirements to lower down the risk of developing diabetes by 30% in people further. A healthy diet means a nutritional diet free of processed carbohydrates and low in fats. Breakfast should be high with proteins. Having at least 5-6 small meals in a day is preferred rather than filling up at one meal. Regular physical exercise is highly suggested. Exercise burns out calories and hence fat thereby reducing the sugar level. Walking is a good exercise. Walk for -1 hour daily so as to burn those calories and reduce that fat. Walking also increases the metabolic rate. These are some of the ways to lower the risk of this grave disease.

It is recommended that people get their blood sugar levels tested from time to time. If people continue to check their blood sugar levels on a regular basis, diabetes can be caught and treated early, helping to win the fight against the disease.
