In today's fast paced society some people are finding it harder and harder to keep those pounds off. Obesity in North America is a growing problem, even among children.
Our perception of food is the main problem. People say that what you eat, affects how much weight you gain or lose. Many believe this is true, but it does not give us the real picture.
How much of weight you put on, also depends on the type of food you eat, there are certain dangerous foods that add fat fast. There are some simple ways to avoid those foods, and you don't need to sacrifice your food indulgences.

Oily Foods
Our love for fast food is one of our biggest problems. Fast food outlets usually cook their foods in oil. Many times these oily foods are full of transfats, which not only causes health problems but also adds more weight compared to any other fatty foods. Even at home you should replace the fatty food with better choices and stop gaining those extra pounds. Here are a few tips.

Ice-Cream - Ice-creams bought at stores contains all kinds of processed sugars, the best substitute for ice-cream is having naturally-flavored frozen non fatty yogurt. It is not fatty and it is as good a treat compared to ice-cream.
Sugar - Instead of white sugar try artificial sweeteners. There are different kinds of artificial sweeteners, but all of them are lower in calories than sugar. Some of them are even calorie free.
Soft Drinks - Many people love having cola which is a fat adder. If you really like drinking cola try the diet version. If you can replace it with flavored water that will be great.
Processed Flours
Another area where foods can be real pound-adders is with grain products. Processed flours used to make white bread or pasta are high in calories and don't have the fiber content of whole grain products. With any food that is made from grains, whole grain products are a much better choice.
