Recent studies have shown that more people are becoming overweight every year; this situation is now affecting children of pre-school age and is a worrying aspect. Many ways to solve this problem exist and whilst some have decided to undergo surgery, others have decided to exercise and change their dietary intake. Losing weight should be viewed as a long term health benefit and the use of weight loss drugs to help accelerate the process is not necessarily the best course of action.

These drugs usually work buy telling the brain it's no longer hungry, stimulating metabolism to aid the shedding of excess fat. It was only after scientists discovered that these drugs had side effects and were related to heart valve disease that they were taken off the shelves. Newer drugs were developed and started to be prescribed by physicians and dieticians, some of these drugs are currently waiting for the Federal Drug Administration go ahead.
The chances are that if you asked enough people, someone will say they have used them and been happy with the results. It is a tempting proposition, to lose weight while still maintaining the same diet; who would say no? The weight loss drug manufacturers have spent a huge sum on research but this cannot be compared to the amount spent by consumers.
Despite the advances in weight control pills there are still health problems, some of which people are sickness and diarrhea. The harmful side effects have not been eliminated and it is possible that you could still suffer from hallucinations, stroke, tremors and heart attacks. You would need to read the user information for a full list of all the possible side effects.
The best course of action before taking any type of pill is to consult your doctor; here are many factors that could contribute to any problems you experience and these do not necessarily stop when you cease taking the pills. These effects can be equally unpleasant as the side effects occurring as a result of taking weight control pills.
Although these weight loss drugs do work, an increase in beneficial effects occurs when regular exercise is undertaken along with a change in eating habits. A diet that is full of foods such as oats, rice, cereals, potatoes, vegetables and fruits contain a good supply of vitamins, minerals and essential fiber.
Of course this should always be combined with a good exercise routine which will use up excess calories and provide a good all round fitness workout. The most efficient exercise should be regular and contain a mixture of cardiovascular (walking, swimming etc.) and weight training using machines to build muscle, burn off excess calories and lose the extra pounds.
If you are thinking of taking these kind of weight loss drugs, whether over the counter or prescribed by your Doctor. Please keep in mind that they can form a mental if not physical dependence so take care and do not abuse them. Being physically and mentally healthy is more important than being skinny and mentally and emotionally ill.
