The black Pomeranian is not much different then the red and brown variety of Pomeranian, except it is black. It is a very intelligent dog and can be quite fierce when protecting its owners. The black Pomeranian has a pleasant temperament and makes a good first family pet. Even though a small dog, the black Pomeranian has a medium bone structure and is very sturdy. Its legs are in direct proportion to its body.

The outer coat of the black Pomeranian is short and coarse, while the undercoat is coarse but much longer and pushes the outercoat straight up. This can sometimes give the black Pomeranian a look of a guard dog. This beautiful coat should be groomed often to maintain its luster.

The training for a black Pomeranian should begin early and be very consistent or your little dog will take advantage of your very good nature. Just because they are small in stature does make them any easier to train. They are just like any size dog when it comes to training.

Because of their unusual looking coats they are actually quite beautiful dogs. They range in size from four to seven pounds and typically have very short but sturdy legs. They definitely are not tiny, brittle or wimpy dogs.

The black Pomeranian will have to be groomed more consistently than other color coated Pomeranians simply because black attracts much more dirt. The dirt is also highly more visible on the black Pomeranian. Brushing twice a week is a good idea for the black Pomeranian. The black Pomeranian is the most popular of the breed because of its fun loving temperament and small, but strong stature.

The Black Pomeranian makes a great pet. They love to please their owners and love affection. Their pleasant personality and beautiful coats have made them the most popular of the breed. They make great companion dogs in any environment. They would like to be known as lap dogs if they had their choice. Training needs to be done with these dogs or they will forever be your lap dog.

The black Pomeranian is one of the most popular of the breed. The only difference between the black Pomeranian and the red and brown Pomeranian is the color. History records them hundreds of years ago in Eastern Europe and even further back in Iceland.

They eventually immigrated to Great Britain and for a long while were royal dogs. They were first brought into the American Kennel Club in 1900.
