If you think you have to go to your local video game store in order to find games in the first place you're wrong! It does appear to make sense because there are so many of these stores and if they specialize they have to be good. This is false thinking that will cost you a lot of money in the long run.
One of the worst things about doing this is that you have to leave your home and waste gas to drive to these stores. That means you're paying a bundle in gas in addition to what you'll end up paying for the video game on its own. Another thing you need to realize is that you'll end up paying full retail at these places more often than not.
You can get lucky and find used games for less at discount stores. There are even some discount chain stores like Target that will drop the prices of their games by a few cents (and by some miracle a couple of dollars. The bad news is that this rarely happens, and it might not ever happen on a game you really want.
