Sometimes you want to fill the room with your iPod's music but don't have any speakers. If there's a computer with iTunes handy you can play your iPod on computer speakers -- problem solved! Read on for quick how-to tips and tricks for living with your iPod. Play iPod on Computer Speakers: In iTunes, click on your iPod on the device list (left-hand side of the screen). Select the "Summary" tab in the main screen and click the "Manually manage music and videos" checkbox. Now for the easy step: choose the song or play list you want from the list for your iPod and hit the iTunes play button. (Still confused? I have pictures on my website to help you out.) Alarm clock: I use my iPod nano for my alarm clock. Have you ever had to spend the night in a hotel and worried about whether the alarm clock would go off? I used to travel 4 nights a week for work and carried a travel alarm clock -- until I figured out my iPod could handle it. No more waking up in the middle of the night worrying about whether you'll wake up! Here's how. Use your click wheel to select Extras > Clock > Alarm Clock. Toggle Alarm to On if it isn't already. Set the time by choosing Time and scrolling the click wheel until you see the time you want. Use the Repeat menu to decide how often you want the alarm to go off (daily, weekly, weekdays, every year, etc). Choose your alarm sound by clicking Sound and choosing either Beep or one of your play lists. With a Beep, you get a loud sound played only on the iPod's internal speakers. Playlist alarms will go through the head phones or external speakers. You can also assign the alarm to a label (like Appointment, Dinner, and so forth) by using the Label section. That's it! Your alarm is set up and ready to go. Lulling to Sleep: While we're in the extras section (and talking about sleep) check out the sleep timer. Use it to select how long you'd like the iPod to play before turning itself off automatically. If you like falling asleep to music or a little background noise this is a great feature. Another Tip -- the Volume Limit: Do you wish your iPod would play louder? (Or does it play too loud?) On the Settings menu check out the Volume Limit option. You can adjust the maximum volume up or down here with your click wheel. You can also adjust the sound mix by choosing EQ (equalizer) on the Settings menu. About the Author: Want to learn more?
