The city of Madrid in Spain is one that you will want to enjoy. The climate is perfect. The people are ideal and packages help to lower the cost. But, what does this location have to offer? Take in the sights with a train ride from Alicante . The city has a long history. It is the location where the monarchy ruled nearly half the world at one point. Now, it is a leading tourism attraction throughout Europe. It is the place where the Spanish Inquisition took place. Now, it is full of some of the best nightclubs and shopping centers in the world, not to mention the fabulous art located throughout.

Now, it is a leading tourism attraction throughout Europe. It is the place where the Spanish Inquisition took place. Now, it is full of some of the best nightclubs and shopping centers in the world, not to mention the fabulous art located throughout.

What's There To Do?

If you visit Madrid, chances are you will want to take in a bull fight. You may want to enjoy a game of soccer. Or, plan to spend time shopping in one of the best cities to do that in after London and Paris. There is plenty to do and you will need a lot of time to enjoy it all.

Art Lovers

If you love art, then visit Prado. You will want to visit the Museo Thyssen Bornemisza as well. This is a newer location to visit. It was founded by Baron Thyseen and his wife, who actually was the former Mss Spain, the location offers some 700 treasures from the 13th through the 20th centuries. Or, you could look towards something more modern available at the Queen Sofia has stashed a variety of 20th century art that is well selected in the style of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

More To Enjoy

If you want to do more than just visit the local art museums, there is plenty to do. You can enjoy the warm climate and go for a walk around the parks. A good place to start is Parque del Buen Retiro. It is the same size as Central Park located in Manhattan. It is smaller than Hyde Park in London, though. It is a beautiful location and the lakes and sculptures are beautiful. You can see the Crystal Palace, too.

Another location to visit is Basilica de San Francisco El Grande. It has a Saint Paul's Cathedral style dome and has a beautiful display within much like that of Saint Peter's found in Rome. It's a rare treat!

You may want to enjoy the Puerta del Sol that is located in Madrid, which is the center of the city and of Spain. Visit Plaza Mayor which is located nearby. You can enjoy many of the restaurants and cafes located here. There are about 100m on each side of the square to enjoy that include just about everything you want to do including bullfights and much more.

Still want to enjoy more that Madrid has to offer? Consider Palacio Real or the Royal Palace which has been the home of the monarchs for centuries. Enjoy the El Corte Ingles department store and visit the flea markets located here. For shopping, be sure to visit Gran Via as well as Calle Alcala, Calle Princesa and all of the others located here.
