Are you thinking about a designer iPod nano case for your 3G nano? I bought one yesterday and love mine.

Those of us who use the nano most of the day need a way to carry it while we're shopping, in the car, and between iPod nano speakers for the room. We worry about it getting ruined by the rain or banged up if we drop it.

You might not have thought about styling up your nano. Until a couple weeks ago I hadn't either. My friend showed me his leather flip case and I knew it was time to find something special for my nano too.

Decent Starters:

The easy path is (of course) a simple, "leather look" flip case. You can get one for under $10. A quick search found them in black, brown, pink, and blue colors. No doubt there's more. There's also another model that opens from the side (wallet-like) instead of the top.

A small step up is the Kroo Manhattan faux leather. It has red topstitching to make it a little more memorable. Still, not the statement I was looking for when I was shopping.

For a step further, take a look at the cases by Cloe Dao. Edgy types might want the skull and crossbones emblem on one of her designs. Non-edgy me liked her pinstripe case in hot colors. I was looking for something a little more conservative for commuting to work -- but might try the colored case for weekend wear.

Mid-Range Price and Style:

The Sena Pullino case may not get you gasps of "style envy" but you'll never be embarassed by it either. This nano case is a clean design, made with European leather, and has a velvet lining to prevent scratching.

Pacific Designs and Marware have some good options in this price range too. They both target the multi-purpose case market and make a good product. Again, nothing to get noticed, but will do the job. (Actually, Marware does have a leather flipcase that's pretty nice if you want something along the "simple but not ostentatious" lines.)

High Fashion:

Want something special and girly? The Gilty Cotour 3G nano case fits the bill. The metal case is either silver or gold plated, with crystal accents. The Swarovski Crystals surround the nano's Click Wheel and display screen. The model I looked at had a silver body and pink crystals -- really cute.

For work or upscale style, the Difusi holder comes in napa leather with snakeskin. It protects the nano well and has a magnetic clasp. At $40 it makes a nice statement without putting your car payment in jeapordy.

I hoped to find designs for my 3G nano by Coach, Dior, or Prada (they have them for the 2G nano. No such luck. Maybe they'll have something out for the holidays.

I love my Difusi 3G nano holder. It's a nice designer case conservative enough for being near my office building but still has a "something special" look. I think I'll buy a Cloe Dao next month for my play time too.

You have a lot of options for finding your own special 3G iPod nano designer case. Enjoy, and express your own style.
