In these days owning a camera and taking photos is fairly simple. Gone are the days when you had to be knowledgeable about shutter speeds and the like. Developing and printing photos have not totally disappeared but have taken the back seat as far as the common man is concerned. For him it is fun or a hobby. With a digital camera he can happily click away to his heart's content.

All that is needed is a digital camera and a fast broadband Internet connection. If you already have both for quite some time, the matter becomes even more simpler as you are bound to have accumulated a sizable number of photos during the course of your random ramblings or during your family vacations.

To sell photos all you need is a fast Internet connection. It is of course understood that you have a stock of photos. If not take your camera out and start taking photos. Another way to augment your collection is to get the photos of your friends and acquaintances. The more the better. It doesn't matter as to what photos you have for practically anything can be sold on the Internet. A lot of patience and fortitude is the main requirement.

On way of selling photos is to participate in photo competitions. These competitions are held all the year round and information on them can be readily obtained from the Net. The more prestigious the event, the more famous the Judge the better the exposure for you photos. It is immaterial whether your photo wins a prize or not. Even if the judge stops and stares at it for a just a little longer than the time he spent in front of the other photos, might get it sold.

Another would be to make use of Photo Stock Sites. These are online sites where you can upload your photos and wait for them to be sold. If you have had a camera for some years, then you are bound to have a stock of some photos (hence the Photo Stock Site) taken during your vacations with your family. With all the instructions required to upload photos posted on the site itself, these sites are fairly easy to use. There are a profusion of such site which can be located through the Net.

On the other hand you could construct your own web site either by yourself provided you have the expertise to do so. Once built, the rest is similar to the stock sites, the difference is that you own the site and you cannot sit back and expect the flood to begin. You have to do the housekeeping and keep the accounts. You also have the option of putting out your site as a Photo Stock Site and have other photographers upload their photos. If you do not have the expertise to build your own web site, get an expert to do it for you.

If programming is not your forte, doesn't matter, entrust the job to a professional Web designer. Make it explicitly clear what you expect on the web site and its purpose. Have a few more confabulations, relax and there you have it. Maybe a week or two depending on whether you intend to maintain it for your personal use or whether you intend to let others also use it like a Photo Stock Site.

Better start with the Stock sites at the initial stages and then graduate to one's own web site after gaining some experience. So, if you want to sell photos, try one or another or all of the methods given above and wait and see.. If your stock is limited, augment it with photos from you friends and acquaintances. Don't wait. Happy Selling!
