Most people are familiar with the Roulette wheel. If you visit a live casino you may have even witnessed all the excitement a roulette wheel generates. Many believe the game was invented by Blaise Pascal, although the evidence is not conclusive. The origins roulette are almost certainly from France. After all Roulette is French for "Little Wheel". Roulette was first seen in a modern casino in 1796, in Paris.

It traveled to the United States in the 1800's, where an extra pocket was added to bring the number up to 31. This created the two forms of roulette wheels that are around today, aptly dubbed the "American" and "European" wheels. If you want to increase your chances of winning, play on a European wheel if given the chance. Since there are only 30 pockets, it will be easier to get the one you want.

Since its inception, live roulette has become one of the most popular casino games for years. In Europe, it is much more popular than other games, due to the fact that the odds of winning are much better than with other games. In America, a general love of poker, which has been on the rise, recently, beats out the popularity of roulette. Its popularity has made it a staple in casinos, and it's unlikely that the roulette wheel will go anywhere anytime soon.

If you are new to the game of roulette, then the first thing you need to know is that there are two main types of bets for roulette. An inside bet, that has to with the numbers that run around the inside section of the roulette wheel.

The next type of bet is an outside bet, this bet is on black or red.

The betting fun is just beginning, within the two main types of roulette wheel betting, there are several additional types of play. You can bet on odd or even numbers, an individual number, or a group of numbers.

It can be a little bit baffling at first but once you get to know the variations in bets you can make on both the outside and inside options, you will start to realize exactly how the roulette wheel is played , then if you are feeling lucky perhaps even place a bet yourself.
