There are plenty of things you can offer your customers with a buffet style of restaurant. Chances are you will have a number of people that come in on a regular basis. They love the convenience of a buffet and being able to eat as soon as they walk in. They can also control the portion sizes of what they want to eat, not take what you bring out to them on a plate.

You can't operate a successful buffet restaurant though if you don't offer a good selection of foods though. You may just have a smorgasbord for them to choose from. You may decide to have certain themes daily or rotate them around. You may find you can definitely get plenty of customers with a buffet of homemade Mexican or Italian foods. Make sure you offer what is going to taste great though even if the ingredients for these items are more expensive.
All it takes is getting a customer into your buffet restaurant one time for them to decide if they are going to come back or not. You need to do all you can to make sure they will be returning in the future. One way to do this is to ensure they can afford to come in and eat at your restaurant. Make sure the foods you offer are also comparable to the amount you are charging as they want to feel they got a good buy for their money.
It is important to be flexible with your prices for the meals at your buffet restaurant. You can offer seniors a discount over a certain age. You can change the prices for the different meals times of the day. You should never be charging parents the full price for young children to eat. In fact, many buffets offer a free meal to children under three years of age. Parents will appreciate these types of benefits more than you may realize.
While you won't need as much staff in order to operate a buffet restaurant, you will need to hire good quality help. You will need people to prepare the food and to put it on the buffet. You will also need people to keep up with the pile of dirty dishes that will mount up and to clear off plates from the tables. Guests should have all the assistance they need during the meal from your staff.
It does cost plenty of money to set up and operate a successful buffet restaurant, that is for sure. Yet if you go about it correctly you will be able to make much more money than you spend. Don't be afraid that your guests are going to eat more than they pay for it as that rarely happens. It is somewhat of a trick I guess you would say though as many of them think they definitely ate more than what they paid for.
You can also save money on the food products you buy if you get them in bulk. You won't be sacrificing quality but you will be able to offer them plenty for their price. You will also be able to make quite a bit of profits. Many restaurant ower's enjoy offering an buffet and they are making good money doing so.
Do all you can to keep your other sources of overhead income low as well. They include wages, utilities, paying for the building, dishes, and dcor. You will need to have a good estimate of how much you can afford in each of these areas. Make necessary adjustments accordingly in order to get the most benefit from it. You definitely want as much of the money that you bring in to stay available to you as possible.
