People just starting their online business often run into a snag - how to accept payments without a merchant account. Perhaps they can't get an account, or are worried that they will be refused due to a spotty credit history. This can be the hardest part about setting up an online business.

Good news! There are ways of accepting credit card payments without having a merchant account. I'll share two of those methods with you.

I've added a third solution to this list. This is for those who really want to establish a merchant account, but may have problems because of a spotty credit history (or other reasons). This solution can help for almost everyone starting out in business.

These three solutions can help solve your payment problems:

Clickbank. Accept payment for your digitally-delivered products using major credit cards or e-checks. For a nominal fee (around $50), Clickbank can help. You don't have to handle the transactions or the payment. Clickbank accepts the payment, takes a small percentage, and sends you a check. Some people think that Clickbank is too expensive, but when I look at all the services they provide (including refund and bookkeeping services), I think it's a good value.

PayPal. Studies prove that having PayPal on your sales page can boost conversions. Offer this as a payment option, and you will make more sales. Just like Clickbank, PayPal will handle the entire transaction for you. Your customers can use any major credit card, even e-checks, and they don't need a separate PayPal account.

PowerPay. If you don't want to use a work-around, like Clickbank or PayPal, and still think you would like to have a merchant account, but you have some spots on your credit record or you've been turned down in the past, I recommend you check out PowerPay. Judd Smith and the people at PowerPay are very experienced with online marketers and they are a lot more helpful at getting your merchant account set up. Here is their website: http://ipowerpay.com - The best Merchant Account for online Marketers.

Take the worry out of setting up your merchant account. Try one of these simple solutions, and get ready to collect payments, fast!
