As an affiliate marketer, you have to make sure that you will be able to get a decent commission from the affiliate programs. You will be spending a lot of time and money in order to get more traffic to your site and in turn get more sales. As a result, you have to really ensure that you will get the most from the merchants.

As you may know, different affiliate programs will offer commissions at different percentages. For example, if you have join Commission Junction or Azoogle, you can see the different percentages of commissions from various merchants. However, you should try to stick to merchants which offer you commissions of more that 20%. Anything smaller than that will be out of your consideration.

You will also try to find merchants which offer recurring commissions. Usually merchants which provide health products such as vitamins will offer recurring commissions. Sponsors which have membership sites will probably also offer that. The advantage of it is that you will be able to make money if the customers make orders again or renew their memberships.

It is also very vital to join an affiliate program with multi-tiered offers. Again, it is all about passive income. You may think that you will only be able to earn little money from the down lines. Yes it is very true and you should not merely rely on the down lines. However, you will find that the income from the down lines will gradually increase as there are more and more down line affiliate marketers.

As an affiliate marketer, you job is to warm the potential customers and refer them to the merchant sites or the websites of the sponsors. As a consequence, you may probably understand how important the sales pages of the merchant sites will be. A bad sales page will not be able to persuasive enough to make the visitor to purchase. Therefore, you will only stick to merchants which are with very high standard sales pages.

You are in fact choosing the products you are going to promote when you are choosing the affiliate programs. You will not choose merchants which provide services or products of bad quality. You will only promote products of really high quality. You will be just jeopardizing your credibility if you promotes products of low quality.

You need to bear all the above in mind. You are working so hard in order to make money and you do not want to make mistakes. Think thoroughly before doing anything and this will help you to make more money!
