There is no argument that tanning is getting ready to be a top priority for many people. It always is this time of year. However, there are plenty of salons where they can go to get the services they are interested in. Advertising your business is important, but the way in which you do it needs to set it apart from the rest of them.

There is no argument that tanning is getting ready to be a top priority for many people. It always is this time of year. However, there are plenty of salons where they can go to get the services they are interested in. Advertising your business is important, but the way in which you do it needs to set it apart from the rest of them.
What is it that you have to offer above and beyond the competition? These are the things that are going to get customers to come in. A common mistake is to be too broad in your advertising. For example you may say you are a full service tanning salon. What exactly does that mean? For the customers, it could be mean many different things.
The more detailed you can be with your tanning salon marketing the more customers will be motivated to come in. They will see something that fills a need they have at the time. For example there are people out there who wish they could get a tan but they are either white or red. When they see your advertisement for sunless tanning that can give them the look they want they will be very motivated to check into it further.
One of the main reasons why people choose to tan at a salon is that it is convenient. They may work all day and therefore they don't have the opportunity to soak up the sun. Do your part to make it very convenient for them to get an appointment that fits into their schedule. Many tanning salons do extend their hours during the busy season, but do you let your customers know it?
You may find you have to hire extra staff to cover the longer days of service but it will be very worth it. Yet this can often be students who are looking for part time work. Hire some for the morning and some for the afternoon and into evening so you have it all covered.
Always make sure you offer sincere personal service for everyone who comes to your tanning salon. In any business it is easier to hold onto those customers you have than to continually search for new ones. Take a couple of extra steps to encourage those you have services before to come back into the salon. They may be thinking of tanning and getting a note from you may be all that it takes.
This type of marketing needs to be more personal though. In fact, you should start it by telling them how much you appreciate them being a customer. Let them know you would really like it if they start coming in again to tan. As an added incentive you can offer them a discount for a limited period of time. Keep in mind they have other advertisements they are exposed to for tanning so give them a push to come your direction.
It is in your best interest to come up with original marketing ploys to encourage customers to tan at your business. You want to stay very busy so you can generate as much profit as possible. You will need the additional income to get your through the slower parts of the year in the tanning salon business. Don't just sit back and wait for customers to come your way, go out there and encourage them to see what you have to offer.
