If you want to make a quick boost in the results your copy brings home, take a look at some of the better books on the subject of copywriting, and marketing in general. Some of the very best learning you can do about writing copy comes from inexpensive books on the subject - and even books off the subject.
Ask any great writer, and they will tell you that the best way to improve your writing is to read books. This holds true for copywriters, too. Today, I will suggest a few books that will help you to write better copy and get better results.
Of the four books that I recommend, three are on copywriting. The fourth is off-topic, but still offers valuable advice on selling your product or service.
The first suggestion I have is The Robert Collier Letter Book by Robert Collier. This is a classic in the marketing & copywriting industry. Much of the book consists of ads that Collier himself wrote. The language is a little dated, giving it kind of an early-last-century feel, but the principles hold true.
John E. Kennedy's Reason Why Advertising is a fantastic book. It is harder to find than the others. At the end of this article, I will provide you with resources to find books like this.
My final choice may raise a few eyebrows, but it's not as silly as it seems. Green Eggs and Ham is not about copywriting, true. But it IS about selling! Enjoy this Dr. Seuss book at any time - with a fox, in a box or with a mouse, in a house.
You may be surprised to learn that Green Eggs and Ham can teach you persistence when making your sales. Learn how to come to an agreement with your potential clients so they become paying customers. It may seem silly, but you can learn important marketing lessons from Dr. Seuss.
As promised, here is a great way to find all those books. Bret Ridgeway of Speaker Fulfillment Services specializes in finding hard-to-find books on copywriting and marketing. Find what you need at his website at www.SFSBookstore.com.
One of the best investments you can make in your business is information. The books I have recommended will be a valuable addition to any marketing and copywriting library. They won't cost a fortune, and the money you invest will provide you with great returns. They are truly valuable to improve your copywriting skills.
