My Great Grandmother, Mathilda, arrived in California in 1850 with her parents and three older brothers. She was only 17 years old. Her family was among the estimated 300,000 Americans and foreigners who came to the Western state in search of gold.

The story that was passed through generations in my family insists that Mathilda, without any help, found one of the richest gold fields in Sierra Nevada. There is another story about her scandalous love affair with a handsome yet married man, who subsequently fathered my great grandfather. But we'll talk about that some other time.

Mathilda, as you can imagine, was a hell of a woman. The unbelievable fortune she had made in 1852 in California was all lost by her grandson, my grandfather, in 1929 in New York, when the stock exchange crashed. Fortunately, she did not live to see it.

"Why are you telling me your family's history?" I can almost hear you asking me now, "What does your grandmother have to do with affiliate marketing?" You'll know soon, my friend. Don't lose your patience.

In the middle of the 19th century, hundreds of thousands went to California in search of gold. Only few found it and made a fortune. First, they grabbed the opportunity when it presented itself to them; second, they possessed the courage to take risks on the road to fulfill their dreams; and third, they had both the knowledge and the tools to accomplish their goal. My great grandmother Mathilda was one of them. She left me a great legacy: "She (or He) who dares - conquers."

This is it, my friend. Affiliate marketing is the Gold Rush of the beginning of the 21st century. Don't miss out on it. Grab the opportunity now, before it's too late. If you want to fulfill your dreams of gold, have courage, get yourself the knowledge and the tools, and go get it!

The Internet, although already so advanced and overwhelming, is still in its diapers. It is as California was in the middle of the 19th century, full of hidden gold. Only now, instead of a pan and a shovel and hard physical work, you can sit at home in front of your computer. Only the gold is the same precious gold. Anybody can do it, you too.

Now is the time. Don't wake up 5 or 10 years from now regretting your failure to spot the occasion on time. Don't forget Mathilda: "She who dares - conquers."
