Planning a baby shower can be hectic. It is not advisable to spend your precious time searching through hundreds of possible baby shower games. Because of this, I am sharing a few of the games which are more fun or unique and could be a hit at the shower you are throwing.

The Name Game The name game is a simple but fun game that can be played when the parents have already chosen their baby's name and are willing to share it will the guests. To play the game you will need the name, pens and paper. The guests will take the letters of the name or names to form new words. You can either have it as a times game or a game that they can add to during the party until the sheets are picked up. The winner of the game can be chosen through a random drawing, the best answers or the most unique answers.

Mother's Weight. Most people would not even think of playing a game like this at a baby shower. Many women are sensitive about their weight gain during pregnancy. In fact, I have only been to one shower where w played this. I have to admit it was a lot of fun, but the mother was very confident and happy with her body, and this is a must for playing this game. It is as simple as guessing the mother to be's weight, she should model at the front of the room, doing some turns so everyone can see the whole package. The person who is the closest wins a prize.

Baby Bottle Bowling Bowling at a baby shower sounds a little dangerous. Honestly it can be fun! Set up baby bottles filled with either a liquid or a solid (like baby cereal), so the bottles are a little heavier. The contestants use a "bowling ball" to knock down the pins. Suitable balls include street hockey balls and tennis balls. You can play a certain amount of frames, or one frame, most strikes in three throws. This game can be a creative as you want it to be. The winner wins the prize.

Word Scramble. One basic game that can be used at every party is to make a list of baby related words and scramble them up. Pass out the list, and have the guests try to unscramble as many words as possible. This should be a timed game and you should make sure you include some tougher words to keep it challenging. The person with the most unscrambled words wins.

Not Allowed. Not allowed or off limits is an interesting game to play at a party. It is especially fun if the guest of honor does not like a certain phrase of behavior. You choose a word, a phrase or an action which is not allowed, you can choose several if you want, and let the guests know what they cannot do. For instance if the mother-to-be does not want people text messaging, rolling their eyes, or saying the words pregnancy or belly, let the guests know this behavior is not allowed at the party. Now pass out something that is baby related, such as pacifiers to each guest. Let the guests know that when they see someone doing something which is not allowed they can take all of that guests pacifiers. The person with the most pacifiers at the end of the game, near the end of the party, is the winner.

Baby Advice Game. This is more of a keepsake for the parents, but it can be done during game time. During a woman's pregnancy she finds out that once the world knows she is expecting, everyone seems to feel that it is their job to give her unsolicited advice. At some point the mother starts to tune this advice out. This is an opportunity to give a mother or father to be one or two pieces of heartfelt advice to look back on later. Before the party make construction shapes out of colored paper like hearts and stars. During the party pass them out and ask the guests to write one or two pieces of advice for the couple on them that may really help them in the first couple of years and ask them to sign it. These bits of advice and knowledge can be collected to be given to the couple after the party is over.

There are so many games that you can play at a shower, and listed above are a few of the best. Make sure you decide carefully on which to choose and take into consideration the guests, time limits and what the mother would approve.
