Nice tips… The shoulder thing is a nice detail to keep in mind. Thanks.

Nice basic technique. I’m not real big on “chambering” at the hip. I understand it will be more powerful, I prefer to keep that right hand “centered” or up above the waist guarding.

Good advice- but thats assuming the guy throwing the sucker punch doesnt know how to throw a punch full stop. I’ve been boxing since I was 8 and it is real easy to throw a sucker punch without dipping the shoulder. Just try it- draw your shoulder directly backwards a tiny bit and throw your punch- do it with a snap and it’ll be thrown before the neurons in your opponents brain can even register.

in real situations the most direct and simple of things always work the best.

But I wonder how good that is in a crowded area. Training ring one thing, real life dealing with a lot of really bad people, something else.

I’d suggest that the follow up knee is not really necessary if good contact is made initially, you’re probably better off picking the teeth out of your fist…

My only comment for people attempting to use this would be DO NOT be afraid to drive your fist or hand into your attacker’s throat. This is potentially a killing blow, and it is !!~~NEVER-NEVER~~!! to be used outside of a life-threatening situation (ie, mugging or attempted rape), but it is hands down the most effective way to keep yourself safe.
