When you get a tattoo, you do so for others to admire it. And whether the tattoo is private for a special someone to enjoy or in a visible spot, you are making a statement to the world about who you are and about an idea you embrace and want to showcase to the world. Because a tattoo is permanent, then, it's good to know the symbolism of the tattoo you are going to proudly display on your body.

If you see someone else with a great tattoo, that curiosity you feel makes you want to find out why they chose it and what meaning the pattern has both historically and to the wearer. Maybe that is why tattoos that are images from the cultures of the Far East are so popular. They often have such a great legacy of symbolism to them.
