When carrying out a search online for what ski resorts in PA to stay at you will be astounded at just how many you have to choose from. What you will notice that these resorts are spread out over a three different areas of the State of Pennsylvania.

A large number of these ski resorts are to be found in the Pocono Mountains which are situated in the Eastern part of the State of Pennsylvania. Whilst other resorts are to be found in the Western part of this State known as Alleghenies and more resorts are to be found in the Southern part of the State of Pennsylvania close to the towns of Harrisburg and Gettysburg.

The resorts situated in the Pocono Mountains are within easy reach of major cities such as New York City and Philadelphia. Whilst those in the Alleghenies region are located within easy reach of cities such as Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Ohio. Whereas the resorts which are located to the south can easily be reached from both Washington DC and Baltimore.

Below we take a brief look at some of the resorts which a popular with not just those who enjoy skiing as a hobby in the US but from around the world as well.

Bear Creek Mountain Resort - Is situated in the south eastern part of Pennsylvania and is only 65 miles away from Philadelphia and 95 miles from New York City. It has many different ski runs and the longest of them all is 1.5 miles. As well as offering facilities for skiing this resort allows you to try out snowboarding and snow tubing throughout the winter months.

Camelback Ski Resort - Situated in the north eastern part of Pennsylvania State right in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. Just like Bear Creek not only can one spend time skiing, but also snowboarding and snow tubing as well. However it is not situated as close to the cities of New York City and Philadelphia. From New York City the resort is 80 miles away and from Philadelphia it is 90 miles.

Shawnee Mountain Ski Area - Another one of the many ski resorts located in the Pocono Mountains and it is again some distance to travel from New York City and Philadelphia as is Camelback. But actually accessing the resort is relatively easily as it is situated close to I-80 (Interstate Highway 80). But as with all the resorts we mention in this article it offers slopes to suit any skier whether a complete novice or professional.

Other ski resorts in PA that are worth considering along with those that we have mentioned above when planning your next winter vacation are Tanglwood Resort, Ski Sawmill Family Resort and Seven Springs Mountain Resort. As you will soon discover a quick search online and you will be able to see where they are located and what facilities they offer to each and every skier depending on the experience they have.
